Micaela is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She has a Master of Divinity in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology from the University of Guelph-Humber.
Micaela has been practicing as a clinician with Peel Psychology and Therapy Centre since May 2022.
Micaela has a warm and empathetic demeanour that allows clients to feel safe and supported as they start their therapeutic journey. Micaela believes that the relationship between therapist and client is essential to therapeutic success and seeks to be a nonjudgement and compassionate witness to her clients. Micaela takes a client-centred, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach to counselling.
Micaela has experience working with individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds but specifically enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, and adults. She has experience working with individuals with difficulties regarding dysfunctional family dynamics, trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional disturbances, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, and stress.
Micaela believes in the value of taking a holistic approach to healing and integrating multiple modalities depending on the client's needs. Her approaches include cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, family systems theory, narrative therapy, and internal family systems. Regardless of approach, Micaela seeks to be a safe base for her clients as they navigate the unique complexities of their circumstances.
Micaela is passionate about helping her clients discover their innate strengths and advocating for them as they establish new ways of connecting to themselves and others.
