Harriet Njiraini

MSW, RSW, Social Worker

Harriet is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She obtained her Masters of Social Work (MSW) specializing in health and mental health from the University of Toronto, & her Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) from Ryerson University.

She has extensive experience working with adults and marginalized groups in the areas of mental health, settlement, health, & life transition issues. She provides supports to clients dealing with psychiatric, emotional and psychological difficulties such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, stress, crisis management, issues of loss and trauma. She understands the complex needs of racialized and immigrant populations, and is also interested in issues that affect women and their families.

Harriet firmly believes that as each person is unique and every client needs a personally-tailored intervention to address their unique needs/situation/culture/belief system. She integrates multiple approaches and techniques such as Person Centred, Solution Focused, Anti-Oppressive, Strength-Based Approach, Cognitive - Behavioral Therapy and much more in her practice. She is experienced individual, family and group therapy.

Harriet is proficient in English, Swahili and Gikuyu.

Arushi Singh

MSW, RSW, Social Worker, Psychotherapist

Arushi is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She has a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) Psychology degree from York University.

Arushi enjoys supporting children and adolescents through all ages and stages of their growth and development. She has experience working within a university-based mental health clinic and in community mental health settings. She has supported children and youth from diverse and marginalized backgrounds, and has experience working with difficulties surrounding ADHD, anger, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, OCD, schooling, self-esteem, and stress.

Arushi has a calm and gentle demeanor that enables clients to feel safe and comfortable within the therapeutic space. She takes a person-centered, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to counselling. She aims to empower her clients in overcoming hardships by highlighting self-compassion, resiliency, and one’s own innate ability to heal.

Arushi recognizes that people are the experts of their own lives and enjoys taking an eclectic approach in therapy that is tailored to meet the unique needs of the individuals she is working with. Some of the approaches she uses include cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, narrative therapy, and arts-based approaches, to name a few.

Arushi views her work as not just a job, but a passion, and enjoys acting as an advocate, confidant, and source of emotional support for those whom she has the privilege of working with.
