Vanessa completed her internship at Peel Psychology and Therapy Centre as part of her MEd Program in Counselling and Psychotherapy with the University of Toronto. She also holds a BASc in Psychology from the University of Guelph-Humber.
She has a background working with youth in the areas of academic success, employment and career development. Vanessa also has experience working with diverse communities, providing support for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief/loss and self-esteem.
Vanessa utilizes various therapeutic approaches including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness practices.
She takes a collaborative, anti-oppressive approach to therapy, providing a space for individuals to gain a deeper awareness of themselves and be the expert of their own experiences. She recognizes that our upbringing, environment and societal expectations impact our way of being in the world, and shape who we are today. Because we each see the world through our own personal lens, belief systems, culture and worldview, Vanessa believes in the importance of integrating various therapeutic approaches to suit each unique need.
