Paramjit is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She obtained her Masters of Social Work (MSW) and her Bachelor of Arts at University of Toronto, specializing in health, psychology and mental health. She completed the Family Therapy Externship Program at George Hull Child and Family Centre.
She has over 25 years of strong clinical experience through her work at William Osler Health Centre and other hospitals in providing individual, family/couples and group therapies. Simultaneously, she also engaged in part time private practice for eight years working with individuals, couples and families. Over the years she has also maintained involvement in community work, supervision of social work students, and has presented at community agencies on Stress Management.
She has extensive experience in the areas of cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy, DBT, as well as couples and family therapy. Using a client oriented approach, clinical areas she specializes in include:
Depression and anxiety (reactive and/or chronic), physical, emotional and sexual abuse; addictions, grief and loss, anger management, PTSD and trauma, life transitions or crises, employment and vocational issues, relationship issues (interpersonal/family of origin), couples and family therapy, separation and divorce, women’s issues, stress management, and assertiveness training
She is fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi.
