Harriet is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She obtained her Masters of Social Work (MSW) specializing in health and mental health from the University of Toronto, & her Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) from Ryerson University.
She has extensive experience working with adults and marginalized groups in the areas of mental health, settlement, health, & life transition issues. She provides supports to clients dealing with psychiatric, emotional and psychological difficulties such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, stress, crisis management, issues of loss and trauma. She understands the complex needs of racialized and immigrant populations, and is also interested in issues that affect women and their families.
Harriet firmly believes that as each person is unique and every client needs a personally-tailored intervention to address their unique needs/situation/culture/belief system. She integrates multiple approaches and techniques such as Person Centred, Solution Focused, Anti-Oppressive, Strength-Based Approach, Cognitive - Behavioral Therapy and much more in her practice. She is experienced individual, family and group therapy.
Harriet also works at Brampton Civic Hospital. She is proficient in English, Swahili and Gikuyu.
Appointments with Ms. Nijrani are currently at our Mississauga Clinic, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
